Cosmetic Surgery and Tax Deductions

April 15, 2009

If you're thinking about cosmetic surgery, and are looking for a way to reduce the costs, here's one way that will not work.

Make sure you see our conditions of use for the cosmeticprocedureinfo.org website

For those filing taxes, comes a reminder from the IRS that most cosmetic surgery is not tax deductible. There may be some exceptions, such as breast reduction that might be done for medical reasons like backaches. In addition, some kinds of dental work when done for medical reasons, or to promote proper functioning, may be deducted. But this does not include procedures done strictly for appearance's sake. If you have had cosmetic surgery or are planning to, you would need to talk to a qualified tax advisor for more information.
