Botox Gets a New Competitor

Botox Cosmetic has had the market all to itself for some time. But now that may be changing.

Botox now has a competitor in the wrinkle removing department. Dysport has been approved in the US for both cosmetic and therapeutic use. At the same time, the US Food and Drug Administration wants stronger warnings on Botox, Dysport, Myobloc and similar products. The label for these and similar products will warn of the danger of toxin spread. FDA says most problems associated with Botox occurred with its use for non-cosmetic injections.
